গ্রাম থেকে শহর পর্যন্ত প্রায় প্রতি রান্না ঘরেই দেখা মেলে গ্যাসের চুলার। আবার যেসব এলাকায় গ্যাসের সংযোগ নেই সেসব এলাকায় গ্যাসের সিলিন্ডারের ব্যবহারও কম নয়। কিন্তু গ্যাসের চুলার সঠিক ব্যবহারবিধি না জানা এবং অসচেতনতার কারণে প্রায়শই অগ্নি দুর্ঘটনা ঘটছে। জীবন এবং সম্পদের ক্ষয়-ক্ষতি হচ্ছে, অনেকেই বরণ করে নিচ্ছেন পঙ্গুত্ব। তাই প্রয়োজন সচেতনতা, জানা দরকার গ্যাসের চুলার ব্যবহারবিধি।
গ্যাসের চুলায় অগ্নি দুর্ঘটনা রোধে যে সকল কাজ করবেন-
১। গ্যাস সিলিন্ডার চুলা থেকে কমপক্ষে ৬ ফুট দূরে রাখুন।
২। গ্যাসের চুলার চেয়ে সিলিন্ডার কমপক্ষে ৬ ইঞ্চি নিচে রাখুন।
৩। চুলা জ্বালানোর আগে অবশ্যই জানালা-দরজা খুলে দিবেন।
৪। গ্যাসের সুইচ বন্ধ থাকা অবস্থায় গ্যাসের গন্ধ পেলে অথবা গ্যাস বের হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা থাকলে কোনভাবেই আগুন জ্বালাবেন না। আগে গ্যাসের লিকেজ খুঁজে বের করে তা মেরামত করে নিবেন।
৫। রান্না ঘরে এক বালতি পানি, এক বালতি বালু এবং কার্বন ডাই অক্সাইড সমৃদ্ধ একটি ফায়ার এক্সটিংগুইশার রাখুন। তেলের আগুণে কখনোই পানি দিবেন না।
৬। রান্নার পর গ্যাসের চুলা বন্ধ রাখুন।
৭। চুলা বন্ধ থাকলে গ্যাসের সিলিন্ডারের সুইচ অবশ্যই বন্ধ রাখবেন।
৮। এলপিজি সিলিন্ডার খাড়া ভাবে রাখুন, কখনই কাত করে শুইয়ে রাখবেন না।
৯। গ্যাস শেষ হয়ে গেলে সিলিন্ডারের গায়ে চাপাচাপি করবেন না।
১০। মাসে অন্তত দুইবার গ্যাসের লাইন/পাইপ ভিজা কাপড় দিয়ে পরিস্কার করুন, সাবান লাগাবেন না।
১১। গ্যাস সিলিন্ডার নেয়ার সময় অবশ্যই সিলিন্ডারের গায়ে মেয়াদ দেখে নিবেন।

I took CPP at 60 knowing full well it was probably a poor decision under most circumstances. However, my best friend took his wife to Cuba to celebrate their 40th anniversary and his 65th birthday.
